![]() Improved controller navigation order on several menus.Even before Valve started testing games for the Steam Deck, Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop ran great on Proton, so these changes mostly concern controller support: Here are some of the things we've changed recently. We've had multiple such reviews, and while the game is still classified as "Playable", we've come a long way. Over the past year, Valve has been working on manually reviewing every game on Steam for compatibility with the Steam Deck. There is not much you can really do to improve your time besides running the mission 100 times on brutal to get the chance of a complete computer hack. Also, before reporting Linux-specific issues, try running with the compatibility tool set to the latest version of Proton ( Proton Experimental) to see if the bug has already been fixed on Valve's end. Normal speed running is boring because the cap to speed running is brutal and rng computer hacks. Almost every source engine fps also has the crouch jump so I don't see how it gives an unfair advantage if anyone can do it. Super roll is the closest thing to the game having a bunny hop which are both exploits that required timing and position to pull off. ![]() Everyone knows how to play the game normally running as fast as you can, but only a select few know of glitches so they have an unfair advantage, a fixable unfair advantage, over everyone else. Originally posted by unknown soldier:Im sure if that could be 'fixed' it would be too, but thats just pure cheating which probably isnt patchable! Im not a speedrunning fan so my opinion isnt nealry as strong as others but there isnt 2 leaderboards, a normal and an anything goes exploit board, so the fairest way by far is to remove the glitches/exploits. If you don't plan on rescinding the change, the least you could do is clear the leaderboards for people that super rolled to the top and/or used cheat engine. On a normal speed run its everyone running from point a to point b with grenade launchers with wild cat running ahead. On timed objectives like Tears for Tarnor: Oasis Colony Spaceport, it becomes a race against time to trigger the timed train sequence and completing the hacks before it returns. ![]() ![]() There is actual risk involved in a speed run because one small mistake means the run is basically over because you missed the timing or poorly positioned yourself. ![]() Which slope do I want to jump off and where should the team mates split up, what order should the objective triggers be completed in, do I want to take a risk falling to my death or take the safer super roll route to the next objective. This can be fun for a little while but glitches and physics exploits are what add value and depth to speed running to the game not grenade launchers, adrenaline and deagles.Įxamples where Super rolling add depth to the game is it adds strategic planning to the game. Normal speed running can be fun but after you know what to do its basically just players spamming grenade launchers, deagles and adrenaline from point a to point b. many people may just see it as a nuisance in challenges with incapacitated survivors but it increased the skill cap and variety of speed running the game. This feature needs to come back because it added depth, skill and team work to speed running the game. ![]()
